At Buck & Drake, there are few things in life that we treasure more than stories. Each of us has a story; a unique journey, filled with friends and memories, that we can think back on. Some of those memories are of difficulties and challenges, while others are distinct victories or celebrations. Whichever kind, they are a part of our story and contribute to us becoming who we are today.
For my three brothers and myself, the early chapters of our story were spent exploring the vast outdoors that Arizona has to offer. The variety of wildlife and topography of “State Forty Eight” was an amazing backyard for our young exploration. We saw that adventuresome spirit modeled for us in our own parents, selling the family business and leaving our home state of Kentucky in the mid-70’s for the unknown of the southwest.
From that time on, the fall and spring of each year would inevitably find us in a remote, lonesome canyons or in the lush high country of Arizona. Long before cell phones or GPS, we would gather around the map, mark the area where we were headed, and tell our parents when to expect us home. Sometimes, even after a long day of work, we’d make the 4 1/2 hour drive late into the night to the trout lakes in the eastern part of the state, just so we could be there for the early bite and make the return trip home with our limit of fish.
Our story, perhaps similar to yours, is filled with the love and admiration of the outdoors. We consider it a part of our heritage, passed down through the generations of family and imbedded in the hearts of myself, my brothers, and now in our own families. Time in the field is precious and the relationships built during those moments hold a deep and lasting place in our hearts.
That’s why at Buck & Drake, we strive to assist others in commemorating your story and remembering those special moments you’ve shared, perhaps with a family member, and wish to make a part of your legacy. Our hope is that this would be about more than just buying a product; we would be honored to be commissioned to create an heirloom that will be passed down for generations to come, continuing to retell and recall your stories year after year.
